Most
waiting children are older children and/or with moderate to
significant special needs. They are referred to our agency because
there is no permanent adoptive family currently available for
them due to their special conditions.
Publicizing
the photos of waiting children in foreign adoption programs
has
been controversial at times. We would like to point out that
Associated Services for International Adoption is a non-profit,
501(c)3
charitable child placing organization. We are making these
children known to prospective adoptive families on our website,
on a restricted basis, with only one purpose: to find loving
and
nurturing families that they deserve. By advocating for these
children, we hope that there will be a greater chance that
they
will be placed with a permanent family. To protect the privacy
of these waiting children, their names and the location of
their
orphanages (or foster families) are omitted here.
Families
who apply a waiting child receive a $500 reduction in coordination
fees. Such fee reductions are supported
by ASIA's "Special
Needs Fund", a fund that receives
charitable, tax-deductible donations from individuals and companies.
The approval process of many of these cases will be expedited
by the foreign adoption authority.
If
you are interested in learning more about any of these waiting
children, the adoption process, our new "Waiting
Children Volunteer Program", or the "Special
Needs Fund", please do not
hesitate to contact
us.
