-
Taiwan’s
requirements for adoption are less restrictive than
for China. If you have
adopted from China and no longer qualify to adopt again,
you may be eligible for Taiwan.
-
Culturally,
Taiwan is a close fit to China.

Taiwan
has both special needs and non special needs children available
for adoption.
-
While
Taiwan orphanages do not have large numbers of children available
for adoption, orphanages limit the
numbers of international agencies with which it will work. This helps
maintain a reasonable
balance between available children and families
wanting to adopt.
-
Few
children are abandoned. Most are relinquished by unmarried
mothers because of the stigma and difficulties
of raising a child alone. The Taiwan courts have a reliable system that ensures
a legal adoption.
-
The
adoption process moves in an efficient manner and is relatively
short compared
to many other countries.
-
Taiwan
has a stable political and economic environment compared
to some countries.
-
Taiwanese
children living in orphanages are, on average, healthier
compared to many other countries.

-
Adoptions
are normally finalized in Taiwan. Families take one short
trip to complete the
adoption and return home with their new child. ASIA makes arrangements for
the escorted trip.
-
Adoption
costs are relatively stable and all major fees are made known
in advance of the
adoption.
-
In
most cases, information is known about the child’s
birth parents and provided
to the adoptive parents in the child’s
referral. Additionally,
the child is able to go back to Taiwan to receive complete information about
their
birth parents
when they reach the age
of 18.
- The
availability of girls and boys is about equal in Taiwan.
