Make
A Donation

Since
1995 ASIA has been facilitating adoptions from China, and providing
humanitarian aid. Donations made to
ASIA are tax deductible, whatever the purpose of the donation.
Please use our donation form and mail it to the ASIA office with
your donation. Call the office at 503-224-1860 if you have questions
or want to charge a donation to your credit card without sending
the information through the mail.
Donations
made to ASIA may be restricted for a specific use, but click
on the “Current
Campaign” to find out about
our needs right now. If you are interested in the Special Needs
Adoption Fund you can follow that link to find out more.
There
are so many wonderful reasons to donate, and many ways
to make your donation really count. Check out some of the ideas
below….
Great
Ideas for Making Donations to ASIA
-
Search
with Goodsearch. Go to the Goodsearch website, www.goodsearch.com,
and choose ASIA as your charity of choice (put
ASIA in the search field, and it will definitely be
one of the
four or
five to pop
up). Then, every time you conduct an internet
search using Goodsearch, ASIA gets a penny. It’s
amazing how quickly this turns into dollars! You can
even set up your web browser’s
search bar to use Goodsearch as the default search
engine – instructions
are on the website.
-
Find
out if your company matches employee donations. This is a
great way to leverage
your donation. Many
companies will match
some or even all of the funds donated by
their employees when the donation is made through payroll.
Check
with your
Human
Resources or Public Affairs department for
details. And if you need help
with the forms or documentation, please call
or e-mail Megan.
-
Get
your kids involved. Some of the most successful fundraisers
are run by kids.
People can’t
seem to resist them. Going door to door
selling candy bars
is not very effective, but having
a bake sale at school (with plenty of
fliers to the other parents beforehand) is both
fun for the kids and very
hands on. Having
your child state their case to Grandma
and Grandpa is also usually more effective than
you doing it!
-
Start
a Giving Circle. A giving circle is often formed like a book
group, more
about
discussion and deciding
as a group
who to help rather than asking for
donations– some
groups do it monthly. Get a group
of friends together and tell them about
your personal connection and commitment
to ASIA, and ask them if they are
willing to support it. Then go on to discuss
and
support other causes in the future.
It’s
a great excuse to get together and
have some wine, and you don’t have
to read a book you aren’t really
interested in!
-
Write
ASIA into your will, or set up a living trust. OK,
most of you
probably
haven’t thought about this,
and it won’t
meet our immediate needs. But if
you are interested in making sure
ASIA’s future programs are
stable, this is an excellent way
to help us well into the future.
This is another way your
children’s grandparents might
be interested in helping, too. The
best way to explore the options is
to talk to your financial
planner or consultant.
