Why Adopt With ASIA?

ASIA realizes that there are many adoption agencies specializing in China and Taiwan that do good work. We too take great pride in our work and our adoptive families offer compelling reasons to choose ASIA. Enumerated below are a number of reasons our families choose ASIA. You can also see What Families Say About ASIA by clicking here or scrolling through this section.

  • Families like ASIA’s specialization - its bi-cultural staff truly understands the nuances of working in China and Taiwan. See About Us for more information on the ASIA staff.
  • Families like that ASIA is smaller, knowing that they will receive more individualized attention from the agency. As Sandra Miller, Executive Director puts it, “Our clients are our families and we share their joys and concerns. We cry and clap our hands for joy when your child is handed to you for the first time. We understand that every family has its own personality and set of needs. We work thoughtfully to meet family needs and to understand its personality.”
  • Families trust ASIA to pay extreme attention to detail - that is why we’ve never had a dossier (the family paper work) rejected from the China Center for Adoption Affairs to whom we’ve submitted more than 600 dossiers in over 12 years. This is because the staff reviews everything carefully and takes pride in its impeccable standards. ASIA will maintain these standards as it expands into Taiwan.
  • The waiting children program is a key component to ASIA’s mission. The CCAA has entrusted ASIA as one of its administrators of the Waiting Children Program. In the new Taiwan program, ASIA also received the opportunity to place “waiting” or special needs children.
  • Fees are reasonable, clearly outlined and competitive.
  • Families appreciate our mission, philosophy and family diversity.
  • ASIA maintains a Beijing office and the staff there has developed an excellent rapport with the China Center for Adoption Affairs. In turn, the CCAA highly respects the ASIA staff and its work on behalf of families.
  • ASIA has established a new relationship in Taiwan with a well respected, experienced and professionally run nonprofit Foundation that works out of Taipei.
  • When the agency does make a mistake - yes it does happen from time to time! – we accept responsibility for the mistake and work diligently and swiftly to correct it. The staff seriously listens to all feedback and makes changes when needed.
  • Staff and agency integrity shows, and as a result ASIA has an excellent reputation with other adoption professionals.
  • You’ll hear occasional horror stories of parent trips to China to meet their children. This is NOT an ASIA trip - and truly, this is where the agency excels. There will always be a member of the ASIA staff or a trusted professional guide to help you along the way. Families feel supported, knowing they can focus on their child’s needs and the ever so important bonding time.
  • Lastly, but by no means least, it’s clear that ASIA believes wholeheartedly in its mission - to bring children waiting for families together with families ready to love the children. The ASIA Board of Directors and staff are stewards of the mission.

In addition, ASIA has completed the paperwork necessary for Hague Accreditation. Results are expected to be announced sometime in spring 2008. ASIA firmly agrees with the premises behind the Hague Intercountry Adoption Laws. ASIA will not work knowingly with any agency or person with whom ASIA has reason to believe has engaged in or is associated with the exploitation, sale, and abduction or trafficking of children. ASIA will make all reasonable inquiries regarding partner agencies and persons.

What Adoptive Families Say about ASIA

"We can't thank you all enough for helping to bring our daughter into our lives. You told me that 'The perfect baby would be matched to us'. I have to say that I wondered how that could be possible at the time, but now I completely understand what you were telling me and I completely agree!"
--A Florida Family

"When I called ASIA, each staff person I talked to was friendly, informative, helpful and organized. I wanted to talk to some families that were previous ASIA families and I was given the names and phone numbers of several families. The families I talked to raved about ASIA and their adoption experiences. ASIA had exceeded their expectations - especially those who had used other agencies previously."
--A Wisconsin Family

"ASIA has been a trustworthy captain of our adoption process, and we feel that the services provided were priceless. Communication has been accurate, timely and accessible, delivered with genuine sensitivity to our personal situation. Even though we had never been abroad before, ASIA gave great directions and support in making travel plans. We were a little anxious, but ASIA listened very carefully to our concerns, answered every question, and worked it all out in record time."
-- An Arizona Family

"We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your help throughout the adoption process. The professionalism, attention to detail and general hard work of your agency was greatly appreciated. It is obvious that you care about what you are doing, you care about your clients and you care about the adopted children. This overall attitude made this experience much less stressful and more enjoyable for us. We particularly enjoyed being able to do some sightseeing and enjoy the local cuisine."
-- A Connecticut Family

"Very solid professional effort on all your parts. If there is ever anything I can do in terms of talking to prospective clients about my great experience with ASIA, please let me know."
-- A Colorado Family

"We are very happy with ASIA, which is each one of you! You have been helpful and encouraging every step of the way. You have been kind and answered all our questions, even if we do ask them over and over again!"
-- An Alaska Family

"The staff at ASIA was very responsive to our needs. Clear directions were provided every step of the way; our questions and concerns were always addressed in a timely and sensitive manner."
-- A New York Family

"Our travel arrangements were checked and okayed by ASIA before we made reservations. Our documents were checked (and rechecked!) prior to leaving. And, we had two paperwork sessions in China to make sure everything was perfect. And, it was! The actual trip to China was wonderful! I don't ever remember wanting to return to a country more than I want to return to China."
-- An Oregon Family

"Thank you for being the top-notch organization that you are. You are our Chinese/American bouquet of year-long blossoms. Each adding your own unique qualities and expertise. That combined, are a treasure to behold."

-- An Alaska Family
