To
Prospective Parents

Thank
you for your interest in learning about Associated Services
for International
Adoption (ASIA) and the work we do. We are a non-profit corporation
specializing in adoption from China and Taiwan, licensed in
the U.S. and
registered with
the Chinese government and a private foundation in Taiwan.
Many
children in Chinese and Taiwanese orphanages are waiting for
a loving family
to call their own. At ASIA, we firmly believe that every child
deserves a loving and nurturing home and that all capable
adults
who wish to offer their love to an abandoned or orphaned child
should be given the opportunity to be a parent. While we must
abide by adoption regulations and policies set forth by the U.S.,
China and Taiwan, we do not judge prospective parents by rigid
standards.
We
are committed to provide affordable, personal and quality service
to prospective adoptive parents. It is our desire to assist you
in any way possible throughout the adoption process. In order
to help remove the financial barrier between the many children
in need and prospective adoptive families, we make every effort
to keep our agency expenses down while maintaining quality service.
We have a team of highly qualified and hardworking adoption professionals
working with ASIA families. Our social workers are experienced
in adoption or child welfare work and have expertise in social
work, psychology and sociology. Our China and Taiwan Program
Coordinators
are native Chinese, have traveled
extensively and understand the legalities and subtleties
of Chinese, Taiwanese and American cultures. They assist you
with the paperwork preparation, your child's referral and
with the journey overseas to bring your child home. They
provide guidance
to
help
prospective
parents
every step of the entire adoption process.
In
addition to the bilingual staff at our main office in Oregon,
we have agency staff or adoption tour guides in China and Taiwan.
Our staff
in the U.S. and in China
and Taiwan are not only competent with the
technical aspect of the adoption process, but are also personable
and sensitive
to the emotional needs of adoptive families. They maintain direct
communication with Chinese and Taiwanese officials and orphanages
to ensure that your adoption case moves along smoothly. They
stay current with Chinese adoption regulations and
procedures in order to inform you of
new policies or changes in policies.
At
ASIA, we also understand the importance of an adopted child's
cultural heritage to his or her upbringing in a multi-cultural
family. Therefore, we work to increase cultural awareness on
interracial
adoption and provide cultural support for the children
and their adoptive families. During the adoption process, you
will have the opportunity to learn about China or Taiwan and
participate in activities to celebrate your child's culture.
While you are
in-country, our team of escorts will not only walk
you through
the process to legalize the adoption, but also introduce you
to your adopted child's culture.
Thank you again for your interest in our programs. Please feel
free to call our office if we can further assist you. We
encourage you to visit our office and meet the ASIA staff.
Drop in or make an appointment- we want to meet you! If
you wish to pursue adoption through one of our programs,
please complete and
return
a China
Application (.pdf), Taiwan
Application (.pdf) or a Home
Study Only Application (.pdf).
We look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
