Why adopt from Haiti?

Watkinsboy1Children Available:
Haiti adoptions are once again happening! On April 29, 2010 Haiti's adoption authority, the Institut du Bien-être Social et de Recherches (IBESR), informed the U.S. Government that they are now accepting new adoption applications for Haitian children who were either documented as orphans prior to the January 2010 earthquake, or who have been relinquished by their birth parent(s) since the earthquake.

The Haitian children are absolutely adorable. They are of African descent with dark skin and large dark eyes. Due to poverty, political unrest, high unemployment rates, effects of the January 2010 earthquake and a variety of other issues, many Haitian children are relinquished or abandoned by their birth parents in an effort to provide them with better opportunities in their lives. The children who have been abandoned or relinquished reside in special orphanages, called crèches until they are placed with an adoptive family. Girls and boys from infants to 12 years old at the time of referral are available for adoption. Families may adopt more than one child at a time - the children do not need to be related.
