Re-adoption
It has become especially important to re-adopt your child in your state of residence if your child did not become US citizen due to one parent traveling or a USCIS mistake. If her social security status is not changed to that of Citizen, she may be unable to receive financial aid in the future. Additionally, if she were to commit a crime she would run the risk of being deported. To prevent this from happening it is important to either file for a Certificate of Citizenship for your child from your CIS (formerly INS) office, or re-adopt her in your state of residence so that she will receive a United States birth certificate. Re-adoption can be done through a lawyer in your state who specializes in adoptions. Contact the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys to find your local adoption attorney. www.adoptionattorneys.org After one of these options is completed, you may take the documentation to Social Security and have her status changed to Citizen. We recommend re-adoption in any case to provide your child with replaceable US documents instead of irreplaceable Chinese documents. Please feel free to call ASIA's Social Worker,

China Homeland Tours
Michael Han, co-founder of ASIA, now owns Always and Forever Adoption Homeland Tours in Portland. Because of Michael's experience bringing families together with their Chinese daughters and sons, he has a deep appreciation and understanding of the "red thread" that connects American families with the birth country of their adopted children.
Michael was known for his attention to detail and the care and concern he showed for families as they traveled to China. We at ASIA believe he is in a unique position to help ASIA families return to China for a meaningful, fun and amazing homeland tour.
ASIA is proud to collaborate with Always and Forever Homeland Tours. If you have been considering taking your child back to his or her birthplace, we hope you will consider Always and Forever. And because Michael supports the work of ASIA, 3% of your tour fee will be donated to ASIA. Please go to www.alwaysforever.us and use the source code "ASIA" when booking your tour.
