Changes in Filing the I800A or I800
****************************************
For families who are getting ready to file the I800A or the I800 for adoptions from China, USCIS has changed the address to which it should be sent. Instead of sending it to your local USCIS processing center, after September 25th, please make sure to send it to the Chicago lock box facility, no matter where you live within the U.S.

I800A and I800 forms are immigration forms. Please see your program guidebook for more information.

Help in Reaching Adopted Teens
****************************************
EMK Press, a leading publisher of resources and materials for adoption, seeks creative and unique submissions for an innovative resource designed for adopted teenagers.

Today's teenager struggles with a variety of challenges, ranging from concerns over popularity, doing well in school, getting into college, driving, peer pressure, friends, religion, which is not to mention concerns and worries over drugs, alcohol, sex, pregnancy, and suicide. For the adopted teen, identity issues, fitting in with their adoptive families, birth families, personal histories, cultural differences, skin color differences, abusive pasts, and more manifest themselves in a variety of ways, often unpredictably or
even disguised as something other than the underlying issue.

This new resource hopes to offer voices and a place where adopted teens can feel free to be themselves, a place where they feel comfortable journeying through life as a teenager . . . a teenager who also happens to be adopted.

We call on anyone and everyone who believes they can offer something supportive, yet honest, candid, wise, and even humorous to today's adopted teenagers. This includes all domestic,
international, and transracially adopted and fostered teens.

See http://www.emkpress.com/teenbook.html for more details on this IMPORTANT project.

Thanks for helping us spread the word to those who would be interested...

There is also a name the book contest with the winner taking home a new iPod nano! Click here for details: http://www.emkpress.com/teenbook.html

Oregon and SW Washington FCC Meeting
****************************************
Hello Agencies-
I'd like to extend and invitation to all of your waiting families who are adopting children from China and live in the Oregon and SW Washington area to join us for our October FCC Waiting Family group meeting. Our meeting will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5th from 3-5pm in the 11th Floor Vey Conference room at Doernbecher children's hospital.

We'll be showing the film "Visible Differences...Transracial Parenting Through Adoption" to our families and a discussion on the film will follow. We also hope to have some of our returning families come and share their adoption travel stories and show off their newest little ones. Always the hit of our monthly meetings for sure.

We'd like to ask you to invite your families and encourage them to check out the FCC website for more information on our group. Our website is:
